    Escape From Monkey Island

Just started playing this again this morning as I never finished it first time around due to a HDD crash and I lost my saved games and could not be bothered to restart it.

I just wanted to say how funny this game is, I have been annoying the GF all morning while she was trying to watch the telly because I am laughing so much.

It seems a little buggy on XP and I did download a patch from the lucasarts website but that does not seem to have helped anything.

I can't see it taking me long to get through this game but are there more games like this that people can recommend for me? I never got Grim Fandango and I can't seem to find it for sale anywhere at the moment, but if you know of any other adventure games like the monkey island ones please let me know

Have done both S&M and DOTT.

They don't have to be Lucasarts games, just any of that style that I might not have done.

i really disliked monkey island 4, seemed like a poor port of a bastardisad kids' version of the previous games.

as for decent point & click games, lucasarts were undoubtedly the masters (sam & max especially) but the first 2 discworld games are also worth a look

Full throttle was pretty cool. Go for LOOM if you want some old skool goodness. No inventory, so its a bit different from the others, and if u d/l off abandonware/kazaa has quality 16 colour GFX too.

Have done LOOM and it was a great game and Full Throttle lasted me a whole day

Cheers Jo I will have a look at the discworld games

Private_mojo, if you go down and see the harbour master there is a inner tube lying on the floor pick that up and then go to the Scum bar and get the bowl of pretzels from the sleeping drunk in the corner by looking at his balloon first and then getting one of the darts players to pop it.

When you have the inner tube and the pretzels take them both back to the catapult and put the inner tube around the cactus, then give thew pretzels to the bloke using the catapult, while he goes off the screen to eat them play with the settings on the catapult and there you go

There's Starship Titanic, which is a Douglas Adams game, or try some of the Delphine adventures like Future Wars or Operation Stealth, they've got a fair bit of humour in them too.

sounds complicated I havent got it anymore though.

Sam and Max and Full Throttle are classics though! Used to go to my friends house who had them. I will have to obtain copies of them because I wanna play em all myself now.

The graphics in 4 are not that bad really considering the game is getting on for 4 years old now.

afaik Lure of the Temptress is available for download on the abandonware sites and is worth a play.

I think beneath a steel sky may be too.
