Half-Life 1.1.1.0 (Full install) Client Patch

Dose anyone know where I could purchase a copy of said title on cd, online then have it sent in post ?
Can't download it because it's too big (82 MB) for my 56k connection (would sell soul right about now for broadband )
and fileplanet and others like it don't support resumable dl's.

won is being replaced by steam.. all wonIDs become useless as they are replaced by steamIDs, and you update your games through steam, which tbh is really aimed at broadband users which is pretty lame for all the 56k-ers out there ...

no its free, 700mb for the whole multi package but steam is rubbish.

Ok, just visited the steam site.
Korky, How is steam rubbish ? I've read that there has been some bugs and stuff, but they will work them out over time won't they or dose it have some other major downfall ?

there have been 8 updates to Steam since it got released a month ago, it's already MUCh better than it was.

it IS aimed at broadband users, but I did a 100% download of all contect on a 28k modem, so it can be done quite happily.

plus, with Steam you can play Action Half Life 1.0 8D

What is Action Half-Life? I heard about it somewhere else and now I seem to see it mentioned everywhere, but still have no idea what it is....

Does Stream allow you to use the inbuilt multiplayer search thing that is built into Half-Life, or do you have to use something external like Gamespy?

I think one of the reasons Half-Life was so popular multiplayer was the ease of use when using it's built in Multiplayer, fast, easy, didn't crash, and was integrated...

steam is a content delivery system, comprising an IM client, server browser and downloader.

install it, click a game you want to play, it'll download the required content & run it. it will always automatically pathc your game as & when,. so patches are a meg relatively frequently rather than 100 meg every few months. open the server browser, do some filtering, click the game you want, and click to play.

steam's UI is so improved over HL it hurts - the game menu no longer needs to run in 640x480 for one thing, so changing a few things like mouse sensitivity is no longer a chore.

there was a lot of anti-steam sentiment at the start, as the 1.0 client was pretty buggy. there have been 8 updates since it was released a month ago, and already it's a LOT more robust. most of the anti-steam sentiment is rumor & hearsay perpetuated by the whining 12-year-old CS players who think changing to Win95 from Win3.1 was a bad idea.

future games (CS:CZ & HL2) will be released on Steam and on CD, further into the future some games'll be Steam-only.

go to http://www.action-halflife.com to get AHL 1.0, it's supposed to be an action movie game, so you run about with akimbo berettas diving through windows & blasting people. great fun. as it's a HL mod, you need a full HL cache in your Steam folder.
