Much more of a simulator than GT. Lacks the number of cars and they're not "real" but then tbh neither was GT cars. They might of looked like their counterparts but drove nothing like them in detail. That's the problem with GT, too much crammed into one game which leads to stuff not being quite "right".
Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic.. but just doesn't quite do it for me.
still not convinced... you were praising it months ago and that's why i thought i'd try it out! Wasn't impressed. Well done the 3 lads who have wrote it.

Just out of interest, what didn't impress?
Graphically is dire. Yes, it's written by 3 people but you compared it to GT3.
Sounds: heh.
Anyway, there's no noticable tire modelling. Tire's don't seem to fade. And they don't give any signs that they are going to break. I'm finding it hard to balance the Turbo'd RX7 on the edge. The rear either bites back suddenly, or flips out. And going on friends experiences, RX7s don't handle like that. AI is pretty terrible, too. As are the textures.
I've got S1. It's a good £12. But overall, not a patch on GT3. You played GT3 with a wheel? It's no NR2003, or GTR2002, but it is good, despite the poor AI and suspect engine performance.
Anyway, you got the S1 car editor, Lowe? Making a 4x4 800bhp Astra and taking it off road [actually, one great thing, the off road track. Fan-bloody-tastic.] is such a hoot.
I hope the AI is improved a lot. Sure, online is gonna be cool, but the nitty gritty of the game is gonna be offline, and if the AI is anything as bad as GT3 and GT:Concept I'm gonna be very disappointed
I must be thick coz I've never worked out what is good about the Gran Turismo series, I like a good racing game don't get me wrong, but I much prefered Ridge Racer Type 4 on the original PS. Guess I like arcadey games more than realistic ones.
Someone already said about it having 500 cars, of which 400 will be rubbish, or stuff like a Fiesta, now excuse me if I don't get too excited at the prospect of driving that, and none of the cars I tried seemed like the 'real thing' - not sure about the high end motors coz I ain't ever driven one of them (in real life I mean).
What really bugged me about the series was stuff like washing the car, I mean come on! Realism is good but you'll be having to empty the ashtry next.
Graphically GT3 was okay, 4 might be marginally better but there is only so much that can be done with the PS2 hardware even if they find better ways of utilising it. Sound was good, taking recognisable stuff from bands like Feeder is a good idea sometimes (like EA Sports games for the menus) but it does get quite old quite quick.
Just my opinion though.

Remember it's not finished. Tyres are coming soon - out of interest take all the pressure out the tyres then have a look at the car.
As for the rear end snapping out on the GTT, play with the setup. Default isn't always best. Also, it's not trying to copy an RX7 - hence why it's not going to handle like one.
AI isn't terrible at all. Leave it on a 200 lap match set on pro and go out to the pub. Come back later and you'll find the AI spanks you - it adapts and learns. Also it learns from the human driver. So, if you start crashing into cars and forcing them off the track, guess what the AI starts doing..
Like I say, give it time. As a simulator I think it wees on GT3, and with time will mature with all the extra wizbang features which everyone's saying makes GT3 better. As a car GAME GT3 wins hands down.
I've not played with a car editor just yet with S1. I used to make some great cars with the original demo. 600bhp RWD V10 GTs.
Well, it's low on the list, to be honest. The ETCC mod for F1CC has just been released, and with that, and the NR2003/Ta/CTS leagues I'm in, time is precious. When it's 'finished' I'll givei t more time. I could spout for pages and pages with NR2003 is the only driving sim you should be playing, but if we all liked the same thing, the world would truely suck.
