    EURO PAL SONY PS-2 and Region 1: US, CA DVD Movies...

    Hello,
    I have an un-modded EURO PAL SONY PS-2 Model 50004 and I would like to know if it can play original Region 1: US, CA NTSC DVD movies?

    I have tried the Japanese NTSC Psyvariar II bonus movie DVD and it worked fine, but what about Region 1: US, CA movies?

    Thanks in advance.

    Yup, you can buy a multiregion dongle/software loader in most shops these days..

    DVD Region X was one of them, which I think is also included in any AR Max pack too..

    Concerning the boot-disc:
    Will I have to pry the PS-2 DVD open like you do with swap magic, or does it ask you to reset the PS-2 and insert the movie DVD once the boot-disc is loaded?

    I found this:

    Are they any good?

    Nope, insert disc, load region free program, insert dvd, select play movie

    http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/produ...1&l=1&ProdID=3

    Play DVD movies from ANY region on your PlayStation2! Now there's no excuse to miss out on the latest blockbuster movies.

    DVD Region X lets you play import DVD movies on your PlayStation2 - no modifications to your console are needed. You can play DVD movies from ANY region in the world.

    DVD Region X also banishes the annoying "green screen" effect you normally get when you try to watch DVD movies in high quality using RGB or SCART on your PS2.

    Features:

    * Plays PAL and NTSC* DVD movies
    * Play DVD Movies from any region on your PlayStation2
    * Easy to use
    * No memory card required

    *some older TV sets may not support this feature

    Are these three the same product by the way?

    I also found this:

    The first two are the same, but the blaze one is different.

    I've only ever used the first one, so I don't know about the blaze one, but I'd imagine it would just work

    btw, you can probably pick these up for next to nothing in game, or hmv, etc if you don't want to order online

    HMV?
    Well In Athens/Greece we do have Virgin Mega Stores, but I don't think we have HMV as I've never seen them anywhere.

    I'll have a look at Virgin Mega Stores and at various other local game stores, as I'm not that interested in paying 10Pounds for something like this

    Where do you live by the way?

    10 quid is a reasonable price for one of these discs..you can get them cheaper 2nd hand but even then its still going to be at least a fiver.

    Depedning on your countries laws you could also get a no-solder mod chip to do the same job without having to mess with a boot disc every time They cost around 50 eur though

    I can get mod chips that require soldering for PS-2s & X-Box for 8 Euros and install them my self, I just have to leave this specific PS-2 untouched though, so the boot-disc is my only option.

    10quid + shipping for a boot-disc is pushing it, especially when one could get them else where, for free.

    If you can get one for free then go for it, no need to buy one is there? (unless you mean what I think you mean, in which case remember that downloaded/burned ones wouldnt work without a mod-chip or boot disc..which would also bypass the region check so makes them pointless)

    10quid+shipping is normal though, for example:

    http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=s...S2&title=94716

    the rrp of these discs is 19.99 GBP, and that's what you will pay in most high street shops..
