ok, well, i have heard lots of differnt things about the PS3, some people seem to say it will run linux out of the box (not for playing games, just a sorta dual boot thing), some say it will be easy to install linux on, and some say it only uses EXT3 and wont run linux without some hacking.
so, whats the real story?
I don't have true knowledge on this but a good guess for me is that nobody knows yet.
However, I'm guessing it will run it - as game consoles are becoming more and more like PC's.
Lol, we might actually start getting some new games for the PS series(seriously though.. sounds like a good idea, pity about the lack of tech support)

i don't think it'll really help much. a slimmed-down windows isn't likely to be slower than a bloated linux.
it doesnt run linux for the games..... atleast not a "full" version......
i doubt it uses linux to run the games really, because then sony would have to release the code the PS3 uses to run games, and if they did that within a couple of weeks there would be malasian rip offs out......
you don't need to GPL code that runs *on* linux, just code that *is* linux
either way, i still expect ps3 linux to be abstracted away from the real hardware, like ps2 linux was
