If the PS3 is shipping with Linux, how does it stand with providing the sources ect ?
Say for example, someone wants to run unsigned code on the machine, are they free to do this?
Could it literally be made to run any code, provided it was compiled for the Cell processors ?

depends on how they do it. the ps2 didn't run linux *directly* per se, it ran more or less inside a VM that only gave certain access to the hardware - they could do the same with the PS3, so the Linux running on it has only limited HW access

About the PSP : AFAIK, it doesnt use Linux at all (unless you hack it to run it intentionally)
the only linux-based handheld is the gp2x
iRiver's PMP range run lnux too, although, they don't play games yet AFAIK
handhelds in the HEXUS.gaming forum generally have to be *gaming* handhelds
