Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Discussion

    Heyo ppl

I just wanted to start a discussion thread for the new Zelda. I'd like to hear peoples expectations, news, links. What people think of the whole series.

I have been a Zelda fan for yonks. Favourite game of all time, I have not liked any game better, although Metroid is coming close.

Nintendo are saying that it will be the best or most beautiful (I can't remember which) Zelda game ever. I find it a bit disturbing that they say "ever" instead of "to date" because that might imply that this may be the last one on a console, or even worse, the last one ever.

Anyway, just post what you think.

Im hoping it is as good as ocarina of time, i felt majoras mask was fairly dim and wind waker the graphics were just pants and annoyed me.
I have high expectations for this game, i also hope the story line is in touch with that of the old games.

well I love all Zelda games, of course OOT was teh best, I'm playing through MM again, and it is soo fun. I liked Wind Waker from the start, and I absolutly loved it, when the reason for the art style was explained to me in great depth.

TP is using a heavily modified version of the Wind Waker engin, with OOT's art style, and it seems a lot darker that all other zelda games. It also looks like there is going to be some form of aging throughout the game, but I'm not too sure at all about that.

Wind Waker was meant to take place quite a long time in the future, Phantom Hourglass (for DS) is following on pretty much like 2 hours after Wind Waker ends. TP is meant to take place in a time peroid about a decade or two after MM.(not too sure on those details)

The game seems like it is going to make full use of the wii-mote, and the console itself. And the one for GC is pretty much just a stripped down version of it. It is also going to be the first Zelda title released next to a new console on the same date. And I'm pretty sure that Phantom Hourglass is coming out on the same day. (I'm gonna spend a lot of money that day)

The games are about saving Princess Zelda, in some way or another, as much as I love them, its pathetic how she ALWAYS manages to get captured in almost every game...LOL!

OOT isnt my favourite - that still goes to Links Awakening for the sheer amount of things that you can do and the fab story and the whole Zelda-ness of it all!!! and...and...many other things like hitting all the chickens and then loads come attack you - but in OOT

    - The first time you properly use the combat system to fight an enemy, it was so cool, side-jumping out of the way and then counter attacking - it felt so amazingingly intuitive, not sure if it was the first game to do it that way, but its now the norm for the lock on/strafe type games.

    - Oh and the fishing - gotta love that!

*reconciders* hey yeah, come to think about it, Links Awakening was the first one I played, and probably the best one. I agree, but you can hit the chickens in OOT and they will come flying at you and eventually kill you unless you get to a house. The fishing is teh best. It's gonna be crazy in TP. *makes casting action* wheee...wiiiiiii.

OOT for me, got completely engrossed in this game. Was groundbreaking when it first arrived, passing of time, interaction, combat etc all very cool.

The fishing was also a very addictive part, even after you successfully caught the big fella!

Top game, hope the new one can come close......

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES was the peak of the Zelda series. It was crafted perfection in every way. Its the best Fantasy Adventure game there ever has been and probably the best we will ever see.

OOT was superb, but for me its not going to challenge LttP.

I never actually finished LttP I had it for GBA, I might try and finish it on Wii's virtual consol thing.

But as far as I did get in the game it was pretty good.

Pretty good? Tis a work of art. The Big N pwning all before them, like only they can \ could \ hopefully still can.

I think the Zelda series lost something when it went 3D. Mario moved from 2D to 3D perfectly, Link never quite made it. I remember reading a review of OOT that said it was a great game but the reviewer couldn't help thinking was he actually having fun.

I think that sums it up. Is OOT actually fun to play? Its certainly not in the way LttP is a blast from start to finish.
