Weird XBOX Live subscription question

i only ask as my brother in law is out in turkey on a USAF base and its only $50 (about 26 quid)

I would guess that it should transfer ok as its the console that is region locked and not the gamertag, saying that I would say its best to wait for confirmation from Nick
