FLASH WARNING OF SEVERE WEATHER
HERE IS A FLASH WARNING OF WIDESPREAD ICY ROADS AND HEAVY SNOW
AFFECTING NORTHERN IRELAND, THE MIDLANDS, WALES, SOUTH WEST ENGLAND AND CENTRAL SOUTHERN ENGLAND.
ISSUED BY THE MET OFFICE AT 17:27 ON SUNDAY, 21 DECEMBER 2003.
ROAD TEMPERATURES WILL SOON FALL BELOW FREEZING THIS EVENING AND
WIDESPREAD ICE WILL THEN FORM WHERE SURFACES REMAIN WET FROM EARLIER
SHOWERS. SHOW SHOWERS ARE LIKELY IN PLACES WITH SOME ACCUMULATIONS
UP TO 8CM ACROSS NORTHERN IRELAND ADDING TO THE ICY CONDITIONS, WITH
DRIFTING OVER HILLS. THESE WILL COMBINE TO GIVE DANGEROUS DRIVING
CONDITIONS.
