    Xmas Topics!

The number of xmas-related topics on this forum is sickening, and worse is closing topics 'Not in the xmas spirit'. As a non-Christian, who stopped believing in God when I found out Santa was a lie (last year), I find you people forcing your religion on me to be offensive, and a violation of my Human rights!

    Among other Christmas PC-gone-bad stories

BTW, I also have my doubts about The Tooth Fairy, Jesus, and the Easter Bunny.

Edit: And this would be a joke, I don't actually take offense, unless my sarcasm is at all unclear.

And I really do believe in the Easter Bunny.

If you are serious, then try and find somewhere not talking about christmas.

If you aren't serious, then there's no need to post stuff like this.

I managed to find the point of your post in the link:

Are you joking..? Seriously.... Or are you truly basing your belief of a religion on a Christmas-time character which is copyrighted by coca-cola?

Actually I had three points. My objection to censorship of a topic because it wasn't 'appropriate' for xmas time.
The issue of over-PC attitudes when it comes to christmas.
And since I was being a troll anyway I figured why not go the whole hog and ridicule a ridiculous charactor that is the embodyment of this whole depressing time of year. Plus I threw in Santa.

The story of Santa and the story of Jesus are actually pretty similar, both are methods of control, although one is much more complex. Santa only gives presents to good children, and Jesus only les the good boys play in Heaven. It's true of religions the world over (I don't want to be accused of knocking christianity, where it comes to religion I'm an equal opportunity hater).

While many people claim to like today, or 'The Christmas Spirit' noone actually like the 'December Experience' so why bother?

The true meaning of Christmas is double pay.

And I should add, I was working a lot harder today, earning my double pay, because of the threats of a terrorist attack over the festive season, an attack in the name of, you've guessed it, religion. You have to forgive me if I'm not exactly happy with those boys right now...

I made a roxor yule log like 8 years ago. Was so much chocolate in it, and about 2 inches of icing stuff round it.

    Delish

Don't want to sound like a streotypical christian here (you know the reply had to come ) but this is exactly the opposite of the christian faith! The whole point being that no-one is a "good boy" - hence the whole christmas idea of him coming in the first place to die!

I dont mean to be rude by this, but don't go knocking things you evidently have very little idea about

At last! No-one can ever resist a troll!

I take it you are a Universalist then, ie no Hell, everyone goes to heaven no matter what. Nice idea, but a bit depressing really.

Or did you miss the point that the 'Good Boy's' are those who beg forgiveness? Personally I have a very different definition.

Don't get me wrong, I never said I don't believe in God. (Notice the experienced troll tactic of completely changing my argument half way through), only if you have faith in the Christian religion, and believe it's plausible, than you have to admit that every other religion based on general mysticism is just as plausible, based on the available evidence (or complete lack of it). In which case a 4th century jewish cult which has caused mass genocide in its name on many, many occasions wouldn't be the first one I'd show my allegiance to.

Personally I prefered God in his adolescent years, with all the smiting and such. He really mellowed after he spawned that sprog of his and got all sensible. It's like the omnipotent equivalent of swapping his motorbike for a Volvo.

NB: God, in this post should be taken as the Judeo-christian God, and not any other of the many and varied deities forum members might worship and/or be. Besides, you can't smite me, I'm hiding under a bridge.

No no, not a universalist, just that the christian idea of god is that you ask for forgiveness and its given to you... no "need" to be good, its more a response.

I guess with scientific evidence then yeah, any religion or mysticism could be true, but I looked long and hard at the historical evidence about Jesus before becoming a christian. Some people dont even believe a bloke called jesus ever existed, when theres more evidence that he existed than Julius Caesar!

I guess my point is that I dont believe in all this just because I feel like it or cause my family go to church (they dont) but because to me it made sense.

And no, you may be right, I dont think therell be any smiting going on, bridges or otherwise
