    Dominos Pizza and Credit cards

I just tried to order a dominos for lunch, seeing as I am unable to move more than a few feet because I crippled my knee on some wet rocks last night.

So I ordered, and opted to pay by card. Half an hour later the driver turns up and hands me my pizza. He then asks to "see" the card, but what he actually meant was to see, and take an imprint of my card.

When I objected to the fact that it was A) against my credit cards terms and conditions and B) Extremely risky, he told me to ring the store, as hes just doing his job.

At the end of it all the store explained "due to credit card fraud all Dominos stores have to take copies of the cards they take payment from now". Needless to say, the pizza went back and I made the driver bring me a refund receipt (so they've lost a pizza and my money, and 40 minutes of a drivers wages).

Anyone else experienced this ludicrous 'fraud protection' scheme?

I mean crayon rubbing over the card, like charcoal rubbing.

I only remember a method like that when I was working in retail briefly.

If someone's card was declined or if the signature on the back wasn't identical, then a copy of the card was taken with the above mentioned method.

Also, if the card reader wasn't working then a print of the card was taken as well.

But, I'd have thought that with chip and PIN supposedly in full swing, then the driver would have had a chip and PIN reader thing with him, the driver did the last time myself and the missus ordered a pizza from them some two or three months ago...

Defeats the point of taking payment online and any kind of fraud protection. Dominos drivers are typically college/uni students who are doing it for the cash, not a career move. You did the right thing refusing them essentially a copy of your card.

Chip and pin check is hardly going to work however many miles away from the credit machine that the drivers had to come Wireless isn't that good yet

The payment should be done securely online giving you a unique reference number which the driver can match up, perhaps with an agreed pass-phrase.

I ordered from Domino's last night by the missus' credit card. She's lost her voice, so couldn't talk on the phone. They didn't ask if I was the card holder, regardless of the fact that the name on the card is a girls, and they didn't ask to see the card when it was delivered.

It was my second Domino's, and I found it incredibly bland. I've had the Meteor (with BBQ sauce and the.. meat) before, and that was a bit sickly tbh.

I'll be sticking to Sicily Pizza in Bolton tbh. Garlic bread, Cheesy Garlic Bread, Hot Chicken Wings, 2 cans of pop and a 12 inch Pizza for £9.95? Yes please.

Domino's in Blackpool had a stint of taking peoples card numbers, and the employee's using them for their own gain.

I always tick the "Cash on Delivery" box now.

At work, if there is a power cut/tills go down, we just take a copy of ther customers card like this. No-one has ever complained! Been doing it as long as I've been there, happened a few weeks/month or two ago.

No! That driver has your address, if he has an imprint of your card too then that leaves you open to ID theft. Which I am still suffering from 6 months after a bent assistant at my local (UN)Friendly electrical wholesaler skimmed my card after confirming my registered account address!

All they can ask is that you show the card used to order.... Thats it! Your card should never be imprinted or taken out of your sight, basic terms and conditions anthing else is fraud, full stop.

    re dominos

My boyfriend hates ordering on the phone, so i do it using his card and we've never been called on it, 90% of the time they dont even check the card at the door. They've never even seen him.

I order from dominos quite alot, online and in store...but usually online simply because when we order pizza its because we're too lazy to walk to the 24hr tesco - and if we're not walking there we're not going to dominos

It used to be a case of just put in your payment details online and then thats it - but this year they have started to ask for a signature when they deliver the pizza..I have never been asked to show my card though, and I certainly would *never* give them an imprint of my card at the door..at the shop I would (depending on how I paid..eg if i used chip and pin I wouldn't)..
