Right, my dad is about to return to South Africa and want to take a digital camera with him. He has a £200 budget and knows next to nothing about digital cameras, i know slightly more but not enough to confidently advise him on which model to get.
what would you people recommend?

I'd recommend the Fuji Finepix 2800

I'd reccomend the Nikon Coolpix 2100, should be yours for less than £165 if you shop about online, i got one for my sister and it a very handy lil' snapper, easy to use, all the basic features you might want, and takes good piccies
I also have a Fuji Finepix 2800Z and it is a great cameraand I am sorry chaged but that picture does not do the camera justice at all.

It was taken with a 2600Z which I guess is supossed to be worse than a 2800Z

so far so good, both cameras seem to offer many good features, can we have any more opinions please?
how does Smart media compare to Compact flash? we both use compact flash in place of zip drives for data transfer so have CF cards coming out of our ears, is £20 for 128mb of smart media a good buy?
