    Rodenstock glasses lenses.

Has anyone ever used these? My optician said they're doing an amazing deal at the moment (he said usually they're far too expensive). He said along with Zeiss they are the best out there, but I've never tried them.

    Yeah, I have.

The pair before my current pair were Rodenstock.

I ordered Zeiss lenses, but they were photo-reactive, and didn't change very much. The optician sent them back to Zeiss, who claimed they were within spec. But the optician stuck them under a UV lamp in their lab for 15 minutes and they merely went a very mild grey. For driving, they were hopeless.

So, I paid a bit extra and switched to Rodenstock. They worked as claimed, and as expected. I had no complaints about them at all. Good stuff.

My current pair, however, are (IIRC) Pentax lenses from Specsavers. The lenses were about a third of the price and, IMHO, are just as good.

I guess you pays your money and takes your choice. Personally, I wouldn't pay that kind of money again, because I don't see the point. HOWEVER, with your prescription, that may not be the case.

Yeah. Apparently my optician only gave me the option of having them due to them having a ridiculous offer on - which he was amazed by.

    Frames - rimless £115
    Reactive lenses - Rodenstock - £85

    Not a bad price imo!

I found my reactive lenses were pants for driving anyway, as the windscreen in most cars effectively blocks 90% of the UV anyway

I'll say it isn't .... unless prices have changed a lot, downwards. It was a few years ago, but the lenses I mentioned were well over £300.

Apparently this is just a one off offer. My optician was amazed by it as usually he turns them down due to the high cost.
