Nope, the circle lines is most definitely underground, they've got buskers and everything.

I'll concede the met line though, but it SHOULD be underground, along the holes of towns it goes through, like Chesham.

District? That's the green one nobody uses, yeah?

Trains are rubbish on slopes, it's a fact.

That's why we DON'T have the Hillary Tensing Scenic Railway up Everest. That's why the one going up Snowdon takes the roundabout, more gradual route through Liverpool and some parts of Manchester.

That's why the hero always has to decouple the carriage with the bomb when they're on the hill, so it rolls away.

Come on, trains and hills mix about as well as Fred West and Patios.

Erm I dunno... is it generally lower rent in Acton? Better public toilets? Less of those unsightly pigeon nail things on any flat surface... Ok, I give, what is the difference between Piccadilly and Acton?

The wheels are ridiculously slippery. That's why 2inches of snow can bring the whole network to a halt.
That's why the wrong sort of wet leaves can bring everything to a stand still.

That's why trains used to carry small amounts of sand in compartments just in-front of the wheels... the driver could pull a lever to drop some sand on the track to get more traction... something modern trains don't have.

You are assuming that the ground level approaching Baker St is horizontal...

How do you think they do it now? The next station westbound from Baker St on the Met line is Finchley Road, which is distinctly above ground.

Baker St station is hardly under ground - only a few feet. Consider Angel station, which is at the top of a big hill - that station's a long way underground...

Which proves my point... if the station is on a big hill, the trains are underneath cos they cant go up the hill... ergo, trains are useless on slopes.... so useless that the made Baker Street, to use your words, just a few feet down, cos the train couldn't handle the few feet climb.

Which all brings us back to... where were you going to go from Baker Street?

Sorry guys, but all that's been proved, by other people on this thread, is that trains can't go up slopes... so using Baker Street underground as a starting point and given that trains can't go up slopes, WHERE were you going to go?

Circle shares a good quantity of track with both District and Metropolitan. Most District/Circle/Metropolitan lines are down one flight on stairs or so, thus "just under the surface". You can see the daylight just above you at Sloane Square, and there are plenty of overground Circle stations.

Oh, an I used the District line yesterday from Victoria to Embankment as a quick and easy way to Charing Cross

Another one that gets me is why is it when you start painting you get a load of flies coming into the house. They are attracted to the paint for some bizarre reason. Never get them in the house usually.

Maybe because you open windows to let the smell of paint out and let the flies in?
