It's on tomorrow night, the biggest ever (£££ wise) boxing match.
And for some unknown reason, us Brits get it free on Sky 1.
Anyone have any thought on the outcome?

wow...... this thread bombed!!!
another trait of what kind of people use the forum
football threads do the same
arse. i missed the fight
It was a quality fight, just a massive shame that Mayweather won in the end.
Can't believe the chap won then retired. Still I would if I had just netted myself 30 million pounds.
I had De la Hoya 1 round up, and my mate had it a draw.
You could justify it being 115-113, but what the hell was the third judge thinking? 116-112?
Oh well, IMHO you have to TAKE the champion's belt, not counter punch your way to it.
On the other hand, Mayweather proved he has a chin
Just watched a bit of this on youtube to see what the fuss is about...
mma is soo much more exciting...
If you like watching men roll about on the floor, then yes I agree.
But seriously, that fight isn't one for casual boxing fans, nor is any Mayweather fight. Do yourself a favour and watch Calzaghe vs Lacy on youtube. That's more like it
The best form of MMA is WCL by a long way.

Well I do like watching men roll about on the floor
Admittedly when I first started watching mma, I didn't but when you start to understand whats going on its just as exciting as standup. A lightweight who is good at grappling can easily beat a heavyweight (or any weight) boxer
I see you point. Even in mma, some fights won't be exciting for the non-hardcore mma fan. I'll take a look at that fight and try not to keep shouting out "knee the mofo"
Haven't heard of this... looks a bit similar to IFL with the teams... But is there grappling? Its not mma unless it has grappling too
IF he's lucky enough to get near him. Look at Liddel and Tito Ortiz, Ortiz couldn't take him down, and got quite a beating
If every fight was a Lacy vs Calzaghe, boxing would be back where it wasI see you point. Even in mma, some fights won't be exciting for the non-hardcore mma fan. I'll take a look at that fight and try not to keep shouting out "knee the mofo"
It was out before the IFL the IFL hit TV first - typical. However, this one is fronted by Chuck Norris!Haven't heard of this... looks a bit similar to IFL with the teams... But is there grappling? Its not mma unless it has grappling too
No grappling, but that's why I like it, I like seeing a contest, not a street fight - and I know there's skill in submissions and grappling, but it's not for me.
Chuck outclassed Tito, in that fight. That is exactly why in mma you need to be an good at everything - boxing, muay thai, wrestling and submissions, not to mention the cardio aspect... Boxing alone to me looks too simple...
I can't actually find that fight on youtube
Fair enough, that site doesn't want to stream nicely for me, but I'll look later. It does look quite good actually, I do enjoy watching muay thai, san shou etc as well so I will probably enjoy watching WCL (although I wouldn't call it mma)
Boxing has unrivaled depth when it comes to punching, Bruce Lee swore by it, and I can't argue. I don't know what MMA fighters do Cardio wise, but boxing is the biggest work out I've ever had and the fitness training you do is ridiculous!
Here's a preview. Lacy (the black bloke) was meant to win comfortably. Find a torrent if you can, because it's one of the best fights of this decade IMHO.I can't actually find that fight on youtube

Well I class MMA as mixed martial arts, and surely that has it? It's custom made for me and others like me, the ones who don't like the grappling, but like boxing, it's a good cross over.Fair enough, that site doesn't want to stream nicely for me, but I'll look later. Completely agree too... but is punching alone enough?
MMA is a lot more cardio intensive than boxing apparently. This is due to the grappling and longer rounds (10 minute round 1 for Pride FC!). I have not done either properly, so I can't say this is from experience but it is the general opinion of most martial artists who have done both.
Thanks. Does look like a good fight - that round was very one sided though.
IMO its kickboxing if there is no grappling.
Wikipedia says:
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a combat sport in which a wide variety of fighting techniques are used, including striking and grappling.
WCL is not referred to as MMA by themselves or anyone else!
I do like the fact that there are women competing on WCL
I haven't done the grappling thing so I can't argue, but bear in mind that most "boxers" in MMA, are there because they can't cut it in boxing. With the exception of Shannon Briggs, (who is back boxing now) I've never heard of any one of these "boxers". To be a top level pro at boxing the Cardio is unbelievable.
I'm sure it's big in MMA too, but I've done a little Thai and a bit of Standard Karate, and boxing is the one that tires me!
Classic fight - both World Champions, aging wily Tiger against young, ferocious lion. If boxing had match ups like that all the time they're would be no discussion about which is better. Internal Politics kill boxing. I view MMA as an alternative, not as a substituteThanks. Does look like a good fight - that round was very one sided though.
My bad, I thought MMA was simple mixed arts, the lack of grappling obviously changes the true definition. My day's lesson learntWikipedia says:

Yeah, some double hard ones too! Wouldn't argue about the washing up with 'emI do like the fact that there are women competing on WCL
