The level of pay is crap. Especially in London. And the hospital is trying to pay my girlfriend 2 bands below the pay level for the number of hours worked.

If she was getting the full level deserved, then the pay would be OK at best. Its in no way good - not by my standards, considering the expenses of living in London and having to do everything you need to do outside of normal working hours.

Hence one of the many reasons I considered my options and now work in the private sector!

I've done 18-hour days (office work) and a 22-hour shift once on a building site.

I was going to boast about the 22 hour days I have done in the past, the 106 hour weeks for 3 months, then I realised most of the posters here have me soundly beaten

    I spoke to TiG yesterday.
He tells me his server room had more unused, not plugged in patch cable than the national grind uses cabling.

    Boxes of it....

I'd hate that..no wonder he had to sort it, I hate plugs that dont do anything .

You wanna come see my server room here then, its been stuck together by the last few guys that worked here to the point that I only go into the server rooms to change the tapes..
Still new building at some point this year so it'll all be cabled nicely, yes it'll cost but its not my money so I care not...

Try 24 hours on the dance floor, dancing solid, no drugs, no drink and then go and do a 12 hour shift at work

My first ever job the first day I did a 21 hour shift (6am to 3am). What an introduction! The best bit about it was I got paid very reasonably for it.

I was very tired in the small hours of the morning, but I was not doing anything to taxing, I really feel for Doctors doing crazy hours and been expected to perform 100 percent all the time.

Nooooooo, my username does no justice for me....

One of the longest days that I've worked would have been from 8am to 1am the next morning (about 17 hours!) but if we count uni/homework as work then the longest that I would have done would be about 2 days straight from uni work to my weekend job to helping at my parents chipshop.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
