Alan Shearer.... pure class, consistant goalscorer. Can you ever remember him having a goal drought?

He also happens to be top goal scorer atm too..

Rooney? He may be a bit unreliable at the moment, but when he's good, he f'kin excellent! And he's only young, give him a few seasons experience and he'll be one of the best in the WORLD!

I didnt put rooney on cos hes not "prooved" himself yet

Beckham has proved hisself to be excellent for united, real and england, as has scholes and owen... excellent for their clubs and national squad over the last 6-7years!

Rooney... too short of a career to class him amongst Owen, Scholes, Gerard etc...

I was hard pushed to put Dyer on there... I almost put Paul Ince LOL

I was torn between Beckham and Scholes, but chose Beckham cos of the greatest he is playing for England!! ... BUT what I cant understand is why Scholes is never even in the running for player of the year....imo hes better than Ronaldo!

Rooney is already the youngest player ever to play for England, youngest ever to score for England and youngest ever to score for Everton. He has turned the heads of a lot of professional players, ex players and managers, including those of Sven, Sir Alex Ferguson, Claudio Ranieri, Kevin Keegan, Sir Bobby Robson, amongst others. How can you leave him out, even with his very short career?

Rooney is over rated, at this point in time he he is just your average player who has some good moments, he is no where near as good as the people in that poll. People need to stop talking like he is the next ZZ.

If people give him time, and stop putting him under so much pressure, in the next 3 - 4 years he will be amongst the best in europe, providing that he is trained well by top managers.

If rooney doesnt move to a better club i.e chelsea, Man u, Arsenal etc.. he might just lose his gift, what we dont want is young talent going to waste and him not playing to his full potential.

Cant agree with u more there man! ... the press need tog et off his back as do the commentators and other football pundits.

He also needs to move to on eof the 3 clubs u mentioned.. or even Newcastle .. cos Bobby R is god... or move abroad... Milan, Real, Barca etc

God knows why Kieran Dyer is on there...he really is dire for 90% of games.....the other 10% outstanding.....i.e. the game against the saints on Saturday. Not good enough for England !
