Some people just ask for trouble. Or it is people that don't know what they are doing....
Some just can't resist pushing that big red button labelled "don't push".
"Keyboard missing - press F3 to continue" Message seen on an Apricot PC.
"To start press any key. Where's the any key?" Homer Simpson.
Hexus Trust
I'd wager it was from people mis-reading it
Niiice experiment!... not really surprising though as anyone who has had to fix 'mates' or family members computers will know! ..some people will click/install/download ANYTHING! Even without reading it or thinking about it.. hah.
Kids and older people seem to be the best at doing it, though my Grandad is pretty good at avoiding that sorta stuff, the only reason his PC was slow was due to the stuff Dell installed on it, not a single piece of mal/spyware on it
"Wet paint - do not touch" - why do people insist on finding out for themselves?
Hee hee - reminds me of the Simpson's halloween special where Flanders sees himself kiling Homer. (Don't) Press the core destruct button! (Don't) DO IT!!
Yeah, it amazes me how much crap Dell have on their machines on first boot. My dad got one for the office he works in and I was amazed it took 3 mins to boot with nothing on. One quick look at what was on it and 20 mins of uninstalling and bingo - 10x faster.
"Reality is what it is, not what you want it to be." Frank Zappa. ----------- "The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike." Huang Po.----------- "A drowsy line of wasted time bathes my open mind", - Ride.
Agreed, nice experiment. But, yeah, it's not really surprising that so many people clicked on it - try it on a file sharing network, i'm fairly sure you'll get the same kind of results.
I'm not too bothered about the crap on Dell's machines tbh. If it means they can charge a couple hundred less than other companies for basic PC's then i'm happy spending 10 mins decluttering
People are just to gulable, like us
