    Any TV aerial fitters/experts here

I live in a exceptionally poor reception area due to various obstructions between my aerial and the local Kingsweston Transmitter. approx 18 months ago I had a new digital aerial fitted which allowed my Daughter to get freeview in her bedroom with only occasional pixelation, it was certainly good enough for the channels she wanted to watch.

Recently the signal we are getting has deteriorated to the extent that although we can tune into the channels they are virtually unwatchable.

Yesterday I was talking to an aerial fitter who was erecting a new rig next door, he has told me that the Digital signal strength at all transmitters has been reduced in an effort to force people to upgrade their kit in readiness for the analogue switch off.

Anyone know if this is right or just a load of crock from someone pitching for extra business.

Why would screwing the service for digital viewers force analogue viewers to switch? That makes no sense to me.. surely they'd reduce the analogue signal strength?

http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107051122 apparently digital is broadcast at low strength anyway so it doesn't interfere with current analogue transmissions.

I would imagine it's a load of crock. Might be a local transmitter is up the creek?

I'd tend to agree they'd screw the analogue feed to get you to upgrade.

Is it an external aerial, has it maybe just moved, or some other technical problem ?

To be honest it did not sound right to me, lowering the digital signal would have the reverse effect, they need to increase peoples confidence in digital.

I suspect my aerial has shifted slightly and this fitter was trying to make an extra buck by attemtping to sell me something I don't need.

A long time a go, I helped to install outside arials with a mate and one thing he showed me was that the little black plastic connection boxes on arials are not always waterproof and we used to fill them with silicone sealant after making the connections to stop damp affecting the signal. new arials may be better. What signal are other people getting ? just a thort.
