Why are digital cameras the same but made by different companys?

What is it with digital cameras being the same but made by different companys?

Konica/Minolta are the same campany. see konicaminolta.net

Trust PowerCam link 770Z LCD Zoom is the same as Minolta Dimage E223 link

is the Trust 735S PowerC@m Zoom link the same as the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-U30? link

Also, the CASIO EX-S2 link is the same as the AGFA SP2 link (they added a 'P' to fool you!) is the same as the Oregon Scientific DS6638 link , is the same as the CHE-EZ D'Zign. link

The Praktica DCZ 3.2S link is the same as the Trust Powercam 750 link just ever so slightly different.

The Trust Powercam 760 link is the same as the Konica KD-25 link both 2MP, except the Trust emphasises the fact that it can interpolate to 3MP... same as BenQ DC2300 link

You will probably find they are made by someone completly different you have never heard of and they are just rebadged.

The only manufactueres that make their own cameras to their own designs are the proper camera manufacturers, Cannon, Nikkon, Fuji etc.

Most of the other ones, the "currys brands" as i would call them - are often mass built in korea, rebadged jobbies.

All these smaller companies don't have the means (or probably money) to actually design and manufacture products such as these.

This will apply to all electrical goods, not just Digital Cameras.

It just makes it annoying when you're trying to decide what digital camera to get because you've nothing to go on, the majority of these cameras, Benq, Trust, Centon etc won't be reviewed so they may as well just be avoided because they may be complete rubbish.

Why not go for a decent manufacturer (Fuji, Canon, Olympus, Nikon, etc) and ignore all the lesser brands?

aye i'm gonna get a canon A300 - i've tried one out and for £125 (amazon.co.uk) I think it's brilliant
