Well my surname is french, and it's a mate started using it as a nickname for me in IRC and it stuck. I personally like the french a lot and it's not intended to cause insult to them as I class myself an honourary frenchman. The english world just doesn't know of the many French victories that well because they are only written about in french, we tend to ignore them if they win and pretend it didn't happen
