text alerts from HEXUS? either for New Reviews (maybe if you are interested in graphics card reviews) or the like? or for forum notifications? Or for set information?

Would be great! Would it be free?Originally Posted by David
There might be a small charge depending on the uptake and how you would prefer it - meaning we could do sponsored news shots but I would prefer to keep texts down.
We have several ways we can do this though.
WAP HEXUS - sure - We already have a forum one and the mainsite one will be done when the new database is finished. (long lead time though!).
There would be no harm in implementing it but I wouldn't use it myself as I only use texts to communicate with people and think of any other texts as an annoyance. I might use an email version of it as I check my email when I want to rather than it interupting whatever I'm doing.

It is not WAP driven yet however : http://forums.hexus.net/archive/index.php
For the site for 'proper' phones.
WAP will happen soon if people want it but to be honest by time it is implemented it will be out of date technology, because frankly its rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe.
When we have an idea we will find out proper pricing but the more we send the cheaper it gets. Bulk SMS accounts is what will be used (I will find out more v.soon).Originally Posted by Shad

The newer phones have XHTML browsers built into them. So you'll be able to browse the proper web Opera is quite good, just takes up a lot of space!
I personally wouldn't use the service, but it might be good for others.
My 1 pence worth.
