as has been mentioned many times before....

The question should be why didn't XP/2k/NTx do this.

Its busy filling the RAM with things you might be wanting to do, so that you can do it faster (in theory) in pratice you can see this on something like the samsung Q1 Ultra (a UMPC) which has very slow HDD.

So its good, you should find it frees it swiftly, if you look at the performance counters for the game you load you shouldn't find much more thats worse than XP, however its worth noting that this really comes into its own at over 2gig the difference on my media pc was quite starteling, even more with adding 'readyboost' a flash stick to page to instead of an HDD.
