You actually get a very good indication of a devices consumption. There's on about a 5 second delay on the remote unit, so just watch the values drop as you turn off an on individual devices. If you're buying the efergy, the indvidual meters are just a waste of cash imo

Waste of cash? I have a rough idea how much each item in my house draws. If something goes wrong with say the fridge/freezer, i know that it draws 2 units a day. Using a local device will show me if there are any changes to that figure. (monitored monthly, or thereabouts) Using the efergy will only show the whole house consumption, and seeing as how a fridge/freezer works (ie, on, off, open door etc) will not show up as clearly as a local monitoring device. Plus when i run tests, i tend to do them for 24 hours and see what the results are.

I also know that when i bought my fridge/freezer 9 years ago it was taking 2 units a day. I know this as being an electronic's engineer i was interested in how much things were going to cost for me to run.

    be carefull....

British Summer time screws up Economy 7....does at my house anyway, cos the clock on it doesnt change.

So set thing to start at 1am and go off at 6am....just in case. Covers both corners then!

So you have one of these devices for each appliance in your house? Or you regularly plug in each appliance in rotation to test consumption? This device shows me general background consumption, which is everything that doesn't get turned off. I can check this first thing in the morning when I get up to see if anything is sucking in too much juice. If I want to find out how much a particular item is using, I just turn it off, and the reading drops accordingly. I can't see your point tbh. As for testing for 24 hours, well that's just anal

At least you get Economy 7.

Brand new "energy efficient" house and I don't have it... someone missed a trick there.

    Oh dear

@ Tigs - same for my house. Ah well, at least I don't have storage heaters in the house - so its not as bad as it could have been.
