Does anybody bother, someone might record a special programme now and again but would think most people switch the tv on when they arrive home for "back ground" noise. Are the commercials aimed at the clever ones using shifting PVR technology?
For me the quality of all tv stations has reduced and looked forward to events in history, but am not in a wheelchair yet and refuse to watch tv in the daytime during the week....erm so UK/history channel lose me, but gain all the unemployed viewers who were probably in the pub in the evening (the time when history channel used to be on).

I never watch TV anymore, unless my fiance has put it on to watch while we are getting ready to leave for work in the morning or something.

There is the odd program that I would like to have seen, but I dont really miss it.

I like the idea of an HTPC as I watch a lot of DVDs, BD, HD-DVDs, downloaded hi-def stuff and I would like it all in one place. And if thats going to be built, might as well throw in a freeview tuner in. So that it can all work through one remote and gives me the ability to record the odd program.

Re: UK/history tv now for elderly and unemployed

.........7% of the UK workforce are now on incapacity benefits, and half of those longer than 5 years....all amazing that we are such an unhealthy nation yet we have had a national health service since 1948.

Where are all these unhealthy people coming from...........................

Well maybe if you have very young kids it would be more useful, as it does give you a break why they are watching Thomas the tank engine or Bob the builder.
