(1) How old are you?
26
(2) Are you familiar with nightlife/scene?(If no go to question 4)
Yep, less so now than when I was in uni, but I go out clubbing in Nottingham when visiting my girlfriend
(3) If so what attracts you to it?
The music primarily, but also friends, drinks and people-watching!
(4)What would you like to see to encourage you more?
A rock/metal night in sleepy Stratford-upon-Avon (where i live and work)
(5) What is a sensible cost
Depends on the scale, for a clubnight of about 100 people, then anything more than £5 is too much. Unless a good band or top DJ was put on, i wouldn't want to pay more than a fiver.
(6) Would a ticket system be better?
For a clubnight, no, not in my opinion, unless the aforementioned good band/DJ was arranged.
(7) Does type of venue effect your choice I.E bar, hall or night club
No, so long as it's applicable to the expected numbers (ie, not cavernous if you only expect 100 people in).
(8) Does the area affect your choice?
Within walking distance of ATM/takeout/cabs/rest of town is crucial.
(9) Do you like to party with people similar to you?
Of course!
(10) Cost of drinks do you think they need to be more realistic if so what price range?
Of course they need to be realistic. Student bar prices would be ideal, but i'm quite happy with £2 to £3 a pint of 'bow.
(11) what type of music would you like to hear?
Rock, Metal, Industrial, Noisecore, Hardcore (NOT happy hardcore)
(12)(Male question) does ladies having free entry effect your choice on a night out?
Yes, i think it's tacky and sexist.
(13) Any additional info?
I used to run a fairly successful night in Liverpool (industrial, ebm, cybergoth stuff), and the most important factor in getting the numbers in is to advertise. Every weekend myself and my co-organiser would be flyering and putting posters up (where allowed!). We got a good solid regular crowd in every month, but always tried to attract new blood, even from out of town.
Also, try not to run on the same night/weekend as huge nights/events of the same genre in the area! Try to offer something different to other nights, and a simple way of doing that is to decorate your venue and get lights/lasers/UV/smoke.
