Question AOL Active Virus shield wont accept my legit key :(

    Hey guys,
Anyone here using the AOL active virus shield (kaspersky AV engine)?
I formatted recently and now the key that I got for activating it doesnt seem to work anymore (the one you get sent in the email) I think its something to do with the number of times its been activated, and now its locked me out.
I get the error of "activation key invalid" or something along the lines of that ( I cant remember right now, as Im not at home, I shall edit the post with the correct msg)

I was wondering if there is a work around/solution to this.

    Thanks

They stopped using kaspersky for their free AV a while ago (few months, and also stopped providing updates). They now offer Mcaffee.

Best thing, get kaspersky internet security (1 month free trial) then apply for the 6 month free trial. That's what i did, 7 months free.

use the 1 month free trial, and near the end of that trial add your 6 month key, and you get 7 months free =]

or perhaps just buy it, as its a good product, that deserves your support and is fairly priced?

...and there will be a situation where Avast detects something that AVG didn't detect.

    No AV will detect everything.

Kaspersky is pretty commerical AV still if you don't like the free AVs.

Yea, I know mcafee is now in contract with AOL - but I dont like them.
And I shall buy a copy of Kaspersky AV - I just wanted to know if can actually salvage anything out of this, I just hate that 1 year subscription thing.
And I've tried avast, also hate it.

Magnets - is there an AV trial like that? rather than the full InternetSecurity, or can you choose to only install the AV from the installer?

Nod32 is also a good choice. pretty good value too when you buy the 3 year sub.

It's only for the full internet security. I just disabled the stuff i don't want to use; anti-spam is disabled, privacy control, proactive defense is on low, web-antivirus set to only scan scripts etc.

So you can just disable everything apart from antivirus.
