I would love one of those Astons (or indeed a DB9) - they serve a different purpose to a Ferrari or a Lambo, more a powerful cruiser than a balls-to-the-wall racer. As the maxim goes at work, there are two good reasons to work one's way up to partnership; Aston & Martin.
I have a neighbour with a Virage and we both commute to Zurich occasionally. I once took the offer to follow him via his shortcut out of Brussels to the Autoroute and I was really impressed by it. We met up in Zurich (I arrived 10minutes after him) and he was as fresh as I was, and I have the comfiest car in the universe. I have to admit to envying him that extra 10 minutes, and the looks the Virage gets (and, tbh, the ease with which he left me behind on the stretch between Metz and Strasbourg. Of course, I can get two women and a dog into mine.

Good choice of Jeremy's though to pick the SD1, well-maintained they are still quite pokey. I knew a guy in Abu Dhabi who drove one and he had had the entire interior taken out and re-fitted properly, the electrics re-done, and some cosmetic work, and it was a really solid car. Jeremy just bought a POS. Should have looked here.

Shows why the British car industry failed. I can't believe those old rovers are worth more than 20quid.

DBS looked stunning in the green. Not sure of the point of it though.

Edit: Just saw this on PH

Clearly the british can build reliable cars if they erm designed by the japs hehe

Makes for interesting reading that survey, with Land Rover plumb last. If you were paying for a range rover, you'd expect it to be built well.

What made me laugh was that the Datsun The Stig was drving put in a better time than any of the cars they had.

That's because they suck (comparatively), as we'll soon see in a future episode.

Jennifer Saunders lap was awesome. Other than turn 1 she just nailed what looked like the right line (from a camera viewpoint) everywhere.

Good episode. I love the cheap car challenges.

The 120 Y had 69 bhp and was rated at 110 mph when new. Probably still does; whereas Jeremy's SD1 probably lost about half of it's performance over the years and the pistons flop about in the cylinders like <rude comment about Jade from Big Brother deleted> and he is pulling more dead weight.

My dad bought a 1974 Civic in 1986 and ran it until 2001. Great investment those old Japanese cars.

I reckon jennifer Saunders could have knocked Simon Cowell off the top spot of the list if she took turn 1 correctly
