Even if the barcode shows that the Wii has a price in it's own, do the retailers have a legal obligation to sell them on it's own if they do not advertise them as such? I don't even see a *moral* obligation there. Price do change according to supply and demand under good ol capitalism. That's why one minute Play.com could be selling a new 8800GTS at £200 and the next it's up to £220.
I reckon the reason you do not see cinemas force you to buy a bottle of Evian with every Haagen Dazs tub is because they believe that the extra profit they get from selling a bottle of Evian do not make up for the loss of a potential Haagen Dazs buyer who do not feel like being coerced into such deal, rather they some legal obligation (though I could be wrong - say if the manufacturers typically impose contractual rules as to how the product is to be sold - i.e. no unapproved bundles).
And even if they were not allowed to sell as a bundle, I suspect that they are fairly free to price as they will. So instead of £300 with 3 games, they could just try to sell the Wii for £300 (again unless they have some contractual obligation with Nintendo and they are not advertising it for £179). But then, the stores may want to consider on future implications: they may make a big profit on the few who will pay any sum for getting a Wii for Christmas, but if a large number of customers see them as being too greedy doing so, they might just lose future business.
I was at the trafford centre last night and Everywhere seemed to be sold out of the Wii`s and Ds`s .
Glad I`ve already got mine
