    Spam?

haw are peoples spam folders these days?

At one stage last summer i was getting a couple of hundred a day (someone was spoofing my address as the sender, so I got the bumps).

Now though I hardly get anything. Perhaps 3 or 4 a day at the very most.

    Anyone else found this?

    Re: Spam?

My Gmail account has 657 from the last 30 days, so around 20 a day.

Not bad considering I get my other accounts forwarded to Gmail because the spam filter is better at detecting what I want to read & what is junk.

    Re: Spam?

For ages I didn't get any with my hotmail account. Recently I've started getting 1 every few days from the same people. My gmail gets about 15-20 a week which I guess is ok. My yahoo seems to get 100s but I check that account every 2-4weeks.

    Re: Spam?

It's ok at the moment but a week or so ago I was getting 200 a day.

Looking at the Companys spam filters we're blocking about 2million per month which is a pretty static figure.

    Re: Spam?

Has anyone else noticed that if you sign up a gmail account and leave it for a couple of days, you STILL end up with spam??

Is this unique to Gmail or do you get it with the other free providers? Makes me wonder if someone's selling on all these free addresses to spammers to help pay for the server costs

Some stuff, yes. Other stuff, no. I know some places (like some forums) that require a genuine contact address as a condition of sign-up and delete applications using addresses like mailinator automatically. After all, if being able to contact you (such as an admin here over your use of the board) is a condition of use, then you're breaking those conditions using mailinator.

So it depends what you're signing up for.

1 hour 50 into this day and I have 20 spam emails already

    402 spam emails yesterday.

    10422 since 10 December 2007
    19874 since 30th August 2007

Deleted a ton just before that (should have kept them for stats, aww )

    [EDIT]

Ooh, just found a screenshot of how many I had before I cleared it out.

Most get caught by filter though, so no problems
