Hi all,
For a while I've had a little bugbear with hexus.tv and i thought I might share it, at the risk of being completely shot down and flamed.
Although I'm sure that informative videos at events such as CeBit are great ways of sharing what's going on down on the floor of these expos and may also be good for showing interviews and whatnot, however I tend to catch up with the goings on at Hexus while I'm at work where watching videos draws isn't something that's generally encouraged or looked upon in a particularly favourable light. Perversely reading a text article is fine, but that's a whole different discussion.
So, my point is that I now deliberately have to avoid news pieces from hexus.tv because I can't watch them at work. I have no inclination to watch them at home as quite honestly, working with computers all day is quite enough IT for me and I've other things to do. It would however be great if there was some sort of transcription or text-version associated with each of the videos so I can still catch up on the latest news, without having to watch a video.
I honestly appreciate the effort that must go into maintaining such a channel, however as with everything, it's not for everyone and I guess I'm just feeling as if I'm missing out because there's no text alternative. I'm also not knocking hexus.tv in any way. I'm sure there are loads of people out there that consider it a brilliant alternative medium for delivering news stories.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jamie
