Amazing how Stewart has turned a sensible thread conveying a message into spam (and wang) from his very first post here
Spam, wang, and poontang, baby.Originally Posted by Someone With 3 Thanks LOL

Well I mean that its not really Pure maths like in uni... (e.g. Algebra, Measure Theory, Metric Spaces, Analysis)
A Level pure is simply like elementary application of basic analysis and algebra... so although it can be considered as pure, its not the proper stuff
Don't get me wrong its still useful for everyone going into different discipline to know, but a Pure Mathematician won't be doing anything like that
So I lied, I promise I'll be off soon...
So the the pure at uni is the pure at A-level with extra bits in it? Makes it impure, according to my (vague) recollection of Chemistry
On a side note, we've now turned this thread into an educational one. Take that Stew
Well you don't really do the stuff in the same way at uni... e.g remember the chain rule of differentiation... you would derive that from using the definition of differentiation... which is:
lim f(x+h)/h
h->0
can't remember the derivation (it was in the 1st year!)... but if you see what I mean its from a totally different angle, you won't actually use the rule though
Most uni maths students can prove the theory but not necessarily use it correctly lol... opposite for A Level - A Level students don't know what proof means (no disrespect)
Well 2 posts elyk, until you have your 1000 celebration AGAIN!!!
