... anyone done one seperately after finishing a Bxx degree?
I'm just wondering how it all gets paid for and what kind of financial support you can apply for?
(and how much it costs!)
Thanks guys

Hi,
I'm currently doing an MSc. in Applied Mathematics and Computing at Cranfield University, after doing a BSc. in Physics.
The fees for my course were just over £3,000 but I was lucky enough to get the course fees paid but some kind of European research fund.
There's no official financial help available but you can apply for a "career development loan" with most of the major banks. I think these go up to around £12,000 and they give you a lump sum to pay your fees then a certain amount per month. You don't have to start paying it back until about 18 months after you graduate and the rate of interest is good. Make sure you apply early as they get SWAMPED by applications and it takes them forever to sort the mess out.
I did my MSc in Computer Science, contradictory to my BSc which was in Biochemistry and Microbiology. The cost was just under £3K. There aren't grants or anything like that for PostGrad degrees, you would have to find a rich uncle or be nice to your bank.
You could try the Career Development Loan, but you will probably be better of with a standard one if that doesn't come.
doing an msc in human centered computer systems as part of a post-grad scheme by amex who sponsor all my fees and pay me 16k /year. next years application date is 22nd feb - www.americanexpress.com/jobs

doing my MSc CS - no govt. loans, but if you've been working previously, you can get some pretty good tax credits.
I did an M.Sc in Cognitive Science, but that was in 97 and I got fully funded by the ESF (they even gave me some spending money!). I dont think they exist any more though
I cant believe how recently I went to uni (93-97) and how much more expensive it has become in that short space of time...

I did exactly the same (was called a 'conversion course')Originally Posted by Flanderz
Although as Flanderz said there aren't any grants, my uni did have a number of sources of money from EU funding programmes etc. which nearly everyone got. Depending on the subject, I suspect most uni's would be the same, so it's worth asking.
Yeah mine was a conversion course, or dubbed it. In honesty, you would probably need something a bit more than that, i.e. some other Pro courses, as academics don't really count much in this day and age, its all experiance. Which uni did you do it at MrFibble just out of interest.

I think it was only available for technical courses but I could be wrong. Go look it up anyway.
expect to pay about 3k a year for an MSc - unless of course you're me and pay absolutely nothing 'cause I got a scholarship
