Raz, sounds just like me mate lol

I went to uni, realised just how many people were there all doing the same thing as me, seeing as I spend the first month under the bar (lol) I decided I might see what I could get while I was still at uni. I am totally self taught, there is no real other way to do this thats photocopied diploma or degree at the end really don't mean nothing anymore. Its all about how you sell yourself, write down EVERYTHING you have ever done then get a good presentation together, if your interview needs it, I made serious gains here and it allows you to prove what you say you can do.

Anyway, I stayed at uni till the end of the first year, got an IT job and now been there three years, aged 24 lots of people hate you for being so young, but at the end of the day, prove it and you can get it....good luck.

I ain't in no rush for a TFT in my office, the 22" HP screen and the PIII/PIV connected to it (its switchable) means I can sit in front of it all day without problems, gotta love your manager lol

Nemeliza : It really shouldn't be legal, my *thing* can't even scroll down an excel file without pausing, thinking about it and then eventually continuing!!!
And they expect me to do SAP code creation on this thing, work it out, avg. 20 new codes per run, in 60 stores (60*20=1200) with each new product needing 24 screens (1200*24=28800). That's a lot of screens for my computer to flick through...

SAP is the worlds most used (by big business's) database. The actual complexity of the programme is on the verge of silly. It appears to do everything you could ever want from a database, well apart from the main thing that our dept. want it for, which is to display material stocks in store locations excluding stocks with outbound deliveries already created and also excluding Z1 (I think) catergories which are purchase ordered goods to satisfy existing customer MTO orders...

My head hurst from SAP today, but YAY I finally got my user log-in, albeit without the user access level that I require to actually do my job, but there ya go...

SAP is an ERP package (alternatively, Enterprise Resource Planning or Everyone Redundant by Payday) which claims to run your business and whose slapdash implementations have cost major names hundreds of millions in lost sales or out and out losses. It's one of those alleged "tailored solutions" which means - it's shrinkwrap software but we can bung your logo on the login screen, we'll give you a cheap quote because we'll put in woefully underspecced hardware to run it and charge a mint for upgrades, and you'll be paying FOREVER for our support people to come in and unkludge the installation we've done...

Did I hit the highspots, BlueBot?

my god, you know SAP as well, hehe. You got it right.

Do you actually work for SAP? I hear it's a great company to work for.

We are currently using R3, but also have the 64 bit version ready for our lovely Itanium 2 server (whenever they decide to get it running).

But the problems we are having on SAP are somewhat chronic to say the least!!!

All our hardware is on-site, none of it bought through SAP (but our IT dept. are so crap they get ripped off all the time anyway).

We have seen many data entry clerks leave the company before SAP was introduced as SAP was said to be "god like and not require as much data entry" in fact we have seen data entry times rise by about 50%, couple that with less staff and we are a disaster waiting to happen!

Our company uses SAP too! LOL.

    Luckily I don't use it.

No, instead I use the call centre software - Optim. Anybody heard of it?

Optim, never heard of that!! Do you work in an IT dept. also Kez? I just wish I could find an IT job, haven't got any IT experience per se, but have got lots of experience fiddling around with computers and playing with MS OS's till they break and then reinstalling, which is imho the best way of learning. Also worked for a site called ChicksHardware, but that was back in the day...

No, I'm not in IT actually - customer services (just started.) However I reckon I'll end up in IT with the company.
