Question Is drinking alone a sign of being an alcoholic?

Sitting here after a very stressful day at work, drinking JD & Coke by the pint...

Am I an alcohlic or just stressed? Should I be worried? Am I spouting utter crap?

Depends how often, I reckon, and whether you feel you are drinking coz you want to, or NEED to...

If its a regular thing and you feel you couldn't stop if you wanted then...yeah..
    Well Hello!

It's not that bad, only equates to about a triple or quadruple (sp?) shot plus coke!

Find myself doing this a lot lately... costing me a small fortune!

Theres nowt wrong with drinking JD & coke by the pint - saves you walking back to the fridge for fresh coke too often.

Time to get worried is when the coke runs out first.

Enjoy it while you can - on me own here as well but two wee kids fast asleep (with me looking after them) means JD'll need to wait til missus gets home.

i fell under the alchoholic category for about a fortnight as i did need it, used to sit at home and drink a bottle of whiskey/vodka every night pretty much until the parents worked out where it was all going.

I don't really need a drink atm but i do (like most other people) enjoy a pint when im watchin a film or relaxing.

I quite often have a few beers at night but nothing too much. Start worrying when you cant NOT have a drink.

well as usual I don't fall into a slot. Most of the time I don't neeed a drink, but every so often (bout once a week) I just neeed to get drunk. And once I start, I know there's no stopping. I'll usually stay up gaming till the screen's blurry, then I'll listen to tunes v. loud on my headphones until I start dribbling and falling asleep.

I went through a phase during the summer where i put my liver through HELL, then i went on holiday, and did it even more, like i'd sit drinking pints ALL DAY in the sun, but i wasnt getting drunk, but i just got into the habit of ordering a pint with my lunch, dinner, icecream, etc. I dunno what happened when i got home from that holiday, i guess i just didnt have any money left and didnt leave the house and i'd drunk all the alcohol in the house before i went.

It's only since christmas i can trust myself with alcohol in the house again. I've had 12 bottles of bacardi breezers under my bed for 4 weeks and only just got into them tonight cos i had a friend over. Only had one each and now i'm going to bed.

as long as you realise it's a potential problem and you stop yourself in future, maybe for a couple of weeks/months. Not totally, just maybe when u're in the house. allow yourself to think "what was i DOING!?" then you can start again with a better view on it. Just dont get dependent on it. It doesnt solve anything.

Often find its nice to wind down from a day of stress at work.

Just don't let it get out of hand.

I have a lot of alcohol in the house... Mainly xmas gifts from work (and yes, I did declare them, honest ), but I so rarely have an opportunity to drink.. Right now I'm on painkillers for my busted arm (although I'm typing with it again, so they must be doing some good!), but I always have an excuse like that. Maybe a hexus compo will be necessary to help me get rid of my booze...
