Downloaded ringtones an a T610?

Anyone here had any problems with downloaded ringtones on a sony erricsoon T610? Ive just downloaded a few and theyre ridiculously quiet, ie you cant hear them even on max volume unless you put it right up to your ear. Is this a problem with the phone or the ringtone? Its very annoying, as all the preset ringtones on it are quite poo.

the ringtones on my t610 start quiet for the first few seconds and then get louder.. but they are pretty quiet compared to my friends samsung phone... dunno if you can edit the midi files with something like sibelius to increase their volume?
