The Mayan calendar simply ends in 2012. It would be the equivalent of me going into my kitchen and going, Oh noes! My calendar runs out on 31st Dec 2008 therefore the world is going to end!
What I'd like to do is set up a website so that everyone who thinks it will end on that date can give me their money and property on the 22nd legally and above board, after all they won't be needing it. I doubt I'd get much interest because whilst people are very stupid and believe such nonsense they aren't stupid enough to part with their cash.

You really want them to hand the money over on the 20th. That way whenh it doesn't end on the 21st they can't wriggle out of paying you.
I do think the world is going to end soon. At least as far as the human race is concerned. I can't see any way back from the edge of the precipice that the industrialists and the city gamblers have pushed us with their greed. We'll never make the changes we need to make to reverse the effects of the impact we have on the planet because it will cut the profits of the big corporations too much.
I think putting a date on it based on when an ancient civilisation decided that they'd had enough of doing sums and they'd get back to it is a bit foolish though.

Thanks for the head up, I got a letter from HMRC today giving me the option to make some NI contributions before April 2014 but now I know I'm better off spending the money myself.
