Re: Why is there only ONE Monopolies Commission

Having 2 organisation arguing over if 24.9% market share is a monopoly won't do anyone any good.

Its called competition commission by the way.

Stupid post. Blatant post spam for scan free shipping

As recently reported on the BBC website, doing something nice to someone you have never met is a good thing. If I made someone laugh, I'm happy.

And I don't even care if replying to my own post doesn't count.
In fact I would consider it an honour if forum admin would delete this post and copy the contents into my first post.

Re: Why is there only ONE Monopolies Commission

Competition between publicly funded organisations- NOOOOOO!

All this crap about choice in the NHS- what's that about? If I need an operation for something serious- which I might if I carry on drinking and smoking at my current rate- why the hell would I want to waste time choosing a hospital to treat me based on their record of successful outcomes etc.? What I would want to do is go to the hospital nearest to where I live and get treated properly. What utter idiot came up with 'patient choice'? I pay my National Insurance (in fact I pay more than most given that I make the median wage for London, which is considerably higher than the national median wage). I don't think it's too much to ask that my local hospital employs good surgeons who can do the job properly.

As a kid I spent more time in hospital than most people have in their lifetimes- though of course I'm not complaining- I got great treatment. I've had my skull sawn open twice, and I hated it both times. My left ear sits a lot closer to my head than my right ear, and I'm forever reliant on balance controls for proper hi-fi enjoyment. It could be worse though, I could have died of meningitis.

I could go on about how great the NHS has been for me, and in some instances, how poor. But my point, apropos this thread, is WTF? Even under Thatcher and Major we didn't have public bodies employing PR people to try and poach public money from each other.

To agree with Rave, I admit that I have a low opinion about the NHS "Choose and Book" system. I am not aware of having better service than I used to get. After having arranged a hospital appointment through this system, I received an official questionaire. The only relevant question was "Was I given a choice about where to go?" (thus enabling some politician somewhere to be able to tick a box). Was there a question "Do you feel that Choose & Book has helped give a higher level of service?". No of course not because then I would have had to answer "No, the money has been spent on useless questionaires rather than helping ensure my local hospital employs good surgeons who can do the job properly."

(I actally have a very high opinion of the service that the NHS provides while accepting that it often does not support its workers and is run by Numpty politicians)

Actually the whole point of this thread was that there was no point, and it was put into an area that indicated it was open for both serious and non-serious threads.
Why is there only ONE Monopolies Commission a bit like asking why Daylight Saving Time is used in the half of the year when there is already enough daylight! What we really need is to save the daylight in Winter. But instead we have DST in summer.

    Also, what did Thought do?

Re: Why is there only ONE Monopolies Commission

Hey, go easy on the Derbian - this is miles away from the usual 20 posts to free shipping rubbish we usually see.

It is an amusing point, and one I don't think was meant to be taken quite so seriously

Thank you for your understanding. I accept that I have posted both serious and non-serious questions on the forum and I hope that the non-serious ones have been amusing without adding to the spam that we all now have to live with.

I can prove I am not paranoid.

Paranoids think that people are after them when it is not true. Since I KNOW that people are after me, it proves I cannot be paranoid.
