Anyone got owt to say on this whole thing?

If you don't know what's going on, Russell Brand had Wossy on his radio 2 show, as a guest. Andrew 'Manuel from Fawlty Towers' Sachs, who is 78, was supposed to be on but didn't show.

They rang Sachs up, got his answer phone and left a variety of rude and abusive messages. Wossy said that Brand had... well... been friendly with his grandaughter, in a four letter sense.

Go to YouTube and type 'Brand Ross' and you will get a million links to the recording.

Anyway, a gajillion peeps complained, its now all over the front pages of the newspapers, lead story on the news, top link on BBC.co.uk, etc. Both of them have been suspended, the radio shows and Friday Night With Wossy have been taken off the air.

The thing is, the show wasn't live, it was a pre-record, so someone at the BBC listened to it, and decided that 2 radio presenters messing about on an old mans answer phone, saying they'd slept with his grandaughter, etc, was fair game and suitable listening! I bet he or she is well sacked about now.

It is quite funny, but then again taking the mick out of other people usually gets a laugh from everyone apart from those involved.

As for them being suspended, well that's the BBC just using them as a scapegoat. Considering it was a pre-recorded show I would expect they didn't break anything substantial in their contracts with the BBC, it's just that the BBC don't know who's to blame yet.

When it aired 2 people complained, when it hit the headlines, 10000, just a media fuelled lynching imo. It may well have been in bad taste, but I put it down to youthful exuberance & just getting carried away with the moment. Absolutely not worth the media hype & attention it's recieved, must've been a 'slow news day'.

They've made puerility into an art form. I hope they remain suspended not because of this but because they are nattering, giggley and tedious and a complete waste of air time. Can't we have some talented people on that are really entertaining - the sell by date on these two expired a long time ago.
