More often than not you have something worth saying, so the plebs could learn something, but the plebs see a post that goes on as far as the eye can see, and don't bother to read it, thus learning nowt.

Cut the word count, the plebs read the post, everyone's a winner.

I think maybe your previous experience of writing articles, etc, is maybe the 'problem'. You write a post in a thread about, say... jelly, but you write it as if it's an article in the Times about the history of democratic voting rights in Kenya. So it comes across a bit dry.

Time and a place for 25 paragraphs, time and a place for 'bobbies ROFL!'. If that's not too simplistic.
I agree about the effect .... some (maybe most) won't read it, or read it properly. But not everyone's a winner if I trim it down. I end up leaving loopholes that only provoke argument, not about the issue being discussed but about what I said or what I meant. And to try to nail down what I meant sometimes means more words.

Besides, I make my arguments the way I want to make them. Whether people read it or not is entirely up to them. My guess would be that while many or most won't, some will. Those that will are those that are most interested. And I KNOW that some do (though not necessarily the same people in different threads because I still get plenty of argument, and that means they've read it to be able to argue it. Well, usually. And the benefit then is that I end up spending more time arguing about the issues, about assessments and judgements, than trying to convince people that what they read into what I said wasn't what I actually said or meant.

It's a choice thing. I choose to make points the way I do. Some people choose not to read them, or to skim. Fair enuff. We're all here to get out of the forums what we want, and it's different for each of us.

As for writing as I would for the Times ... well, I don't work for the Times, but if I did, I assure you, it wouldn't be written the way I write here. You write to an editor's brief and for the reader's style. Here, I write how it suits me, not the editor or a Times reader.

Why Stewart/Vaul hasn't made something of his writing talents I don't know.

And I must admit that I'm a pleb that doesn't read all of Saracens posts as I just don't have the time (capt'n) - they scare me a bit. Usally just get the bullet point version from Stew later on.

    Fanks.

Well I do appreciate the comments I get about my own modest writing talents from peeps on these forums.

Re: Saracen (the Admin guy, not the Gladiator) and his legendary MegaPosts©™

disagree... i have seen many a time where Saracen has multi-posted, and by looking at it, it seems to be because he has massively exceeded the character limit of posts, so if you join the MegaPosts©™ you get a TriMegaPost©™...
'fore my time or did I just miss a post or three?

    Wow .... I mean, wow.

You lot actually read my drivel? Don't you have lives or anything?
I have a life! I just ignore it. I also read abnormally fast.

OOI - what are people's WPM when typing? And if someone posts a link to that online test thingy that only has 300 words or so to type in I'll murder them -.-
