Guitarists: Recommend me an Effects pedal?!

@staffsmike - I was having a look at the pod range, and this http://line6.com/floorpod/ seemed like it does everything that I want; pedal + effects etc. Would I be right i saying this?

I did the same thing as mmh with almost exactly the pedel he linked to. Borrowed it for about a week and had a play around with the sounds it produced... they were all a bit rubbish and if line 6 sounds can seem a little manafactured I wouldn't like to say what that pedel sounded like but the idea is a very a good one.

That said the pod offers a hell of a lot of value in my opinion and if you can get that floor pod under £100 say, It would be a great little setup.

Hmmmm under £100 would have to be off ebay (and they all appear to be used) - dont like getting electrical equipment off there when its used.

But with regards to sound created, do effects pedals/pods enhance the sound created?
