    Amsterdam...

I'm off for the weekend to race in Amsterdam its a four day trip with two days of racing (rowing that is) = two days 'unaccounted for' in probably the most libral city in the world...sex, drugs and rock and roll come to mind rather rapidly. Its part of a regatta they hold out there each year where you get to do some quite fun racing , a 2.5km race followed straight away by a 250meter blast against another crew side-by-side. then on sunday its a 750meter blast with a longer 5km race after that...should be fun!
so what do people feel for? I can take orders...anyone fancy those nice cookies they have over there? someone I know had a 'magic' muffin last time and the consequences were rather amusing
on the 'gentleman's night out' view point I'm sure there will be a few of the 20 or so of us that are going that will just 'happen' to find themselves in one of the more reputable drinking-holes, complete with topless staff of course...! there's a story I heard about a ping-pong ball and a banana but thats for another time...
    catch you all next week

I've been meaning to go for a couple of years think I may do in may sometime with my hosue mates. I'm quite interested in visting some of the otehr parts especially those connected with WWII, as a bit of a history buff that kind of thing interests me. In particular Arnhem as my Grandad was there

Well, I have a little red light district advice. Don't go to 'The Banana Bar'. It's far more crap than people say and too expensive. Do go to the hemp museum, it's fascinating and well worth it. The Greenhouse is a very good bar and they serve excellent coffee. And if you are looking for a few hours to kill, then take a wander along some of the narrow streets to the south of the old church.

i spent a week there last summer, its certainly an eye-opener. for a night out, there is the Dutch version of Hooters, on the road in front of you out of Centraal Station, which is well worth a visit. then, coffeeshops for a bit, if that floats your boat (excuse pun..). there is a bar in the red light district called the Black Tiger i think (memory is a bit hazy). try and grab a window seat and watch the world go by at night over a few beers/spliffs.
also, we went to the Moulin Rouge club just up the canal from there, on the same side. cost us 25 euros to get in, but that was including 2 free drinks and we could come and go all night. that place is proper good! the peep-show thingy over the canal from there with the pink elephant fountain outside is also well worth a look.
as for coffeeshops, avoid the commercial places like the Bulldog, Grasshopper etc.. try and find Grey Area (try AK47 or Double-Bubblegum..) or Homegrown Fantasy (try Super Crystal or Blue Haze..), quality places!
have a great time mate, wish i could join ya. hope this helps,
    peace

    ! wow !
well, that was definitely something you don't get to see everyday. didn't go into any of the cafes saddly - not really the time or right situation but perhaos next time not the best thing to be racing whilst utterly smashed!! we took a wander along the red-light canal and that is definitely worth a look, just out of sheer curiosity than anything else. saw some hotties as well as some blatant lady-boys...(i.e. tucking back the bulge...!). few of my mates were planning on getting some 'cock-chocolate' and were politely reminded by one of the girls on our trip you can get one filled with cream. makes you wonder what they were up to eh!.
couple of the guys went one step on and went to watch some crazy show...it got better as the night went on apparently but nothing spectacular, i think they prefered the jenna jamison dvd someone brought along on their laptop...utter smutt!
we stayed by the river out of the center but the girls stayed a stone's throw from the red-light district so had to walk through sleeze to get home which they weren't too keen on.
i just laughed at most of what we saw, from blatant out-right filth to moderate amusement. I got offered a variety of mind-expanding drugs on several occasions ranging from coke/ecstacy to the odd spliff. needless to say i declined but i was pleased to have been offered none the less.
yup, saw that place near central station, called teesers if i remember rightly, and yes, a drinking hole where a woman in very skimpy underwear dances on the bar was packed full of guys leering over her...there were probably more hotties in the crowd but we didn't venture in to check it out - it was literally packed in there.
so, all it all a good trip, the racing went pretty well too over the two days it happened, really twisty course with tight bends making steering a challenge but we did ok. 15th i believe...could be slightly higher though...
either way fun had by all

about 1/2 the price you'd pay for the same quality over here!
Teasers is a quality place! we were drinking litre glasses of heineken (shame its the only thing you can get!) for most of the night before wandering on. i did a tequila bodyshot too, ended up lickin salt off some of the biggest tits ever, drinkin tequila and takin the lime out the cleavage with my mouth, haha. proper bo i tell thee!
never buy off the dealers in the Red Light District, they aint sellin proper drugs and most of em just use it as an opportunity to mug ya anyways. gotto love the coffeeshops tho. plannin on spendin some quality time again there this summer
