The Sunbird by wilbur Smith. I really like his books, especially River God, the Seventh Scroll, and Warlock.
heretic by bernard cornwell...thrid in a series of books following an archer in the 13th century as he fights the french and embarks on a quest for the grail. not quite monty python i'm afraid. the fights and battles are fantastic, makes you want to learn more about that part of history as it gives an [often] sickening realism when fighting comes down to close quarters. and gives you respect for archers...
the three start with Harlequin, then go to Vagabond and lastly Heretic. great fun!

Currently reading :- Order of the Phoenix, Jk Rowling
I have read it before but felt like reading it again! Much darker than the original three but still as good (IMO).
Guh, I didn't like it much at all, Harry's been turned into Kevin the Angry Teenager, much like Lucas did with Anakin in AotC..
What am I reading at the moment? ASP and VBScript in a Nutshell.. *ugh*

The Making of the Atomic Bomb
by Richard Rhodes
Truly superb piece of writing. Heavy going and VERY long (spend 4 weeks travelling around China by train and it comes into its own sort of thing ) but utterly compelling.
