    Contact Lens Prescription

I've previously got my contact lenses from my opticians, but I thought it'd be easier ordering them off the net. My current lenses are -1.25 / 8.6 / 13.8 (power/radius/diameter), and I've been looking online but some of the brands of contact lenses only seem to have a single size (or very little choice) for the radius/diameter.

Is this going to be an issue for me, moving from 8.6/12.8 to 8.5/14.2 for example? I'd rather not order a box of lenses to find they don't fit me, as I've only ever used the ones I have now.
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

My optician has an account here, if he is still active you might get a reply

I get mine online though, I know what you mean as they do always seem to be fixed but I think it's the powers that are the important part really. Unless you have astigmatism or something then that might cause problems..

    Re: Contact Lens Prescription

Do you guys use contact lenses all day, and use a screen all day?

I wear glasses but they are starting to irritate me, I considered contacts, but virtually everyone I asked didn't recommend them and said they are especially unsuited to staring at a screen all day...

    Re: Contact Lens Prescription

I find contacts too uncomfortable to wear all day looking at a screen.

Personally I think my eyesight is important enough that I just leave it to the professionals and go to an optician. I would be inclined to stick to the optician unless you can find a reliable web source, and even then keep getting regular check-ups. Why is it inconvenient for you to get them from the optician?

I usually have no problem doing this, I don't do it all day every day but there are always days here and there where I spend most of it in front of a screen. If glasses are annoying you then by all means ask your optician for a trial pair or whatever they do - some people just don't get on with them, others find they need to give their eyes a break now and again, some people are fine with them whenever. It's well worth giving them a go I reckon.

    Re: Contact Lens Prescription

I considered ordering lenses online but decided that paying nearly 100% more at my optician was well worth it.

The cost of any problems I have is already factored in along with quarterly checkups. Knowing I can wander into my opticians at will without cost makes me far more likely to consult them about any niggles I would otherwise leave.

I find contacts uncomfortable for long period of computer use as my eyes dry out and much prefer glasses for this task.

    Re: Contact Lens Prescription

your eyes dry out looking at a screen because you blink less. I have a bottle of liquidtears which helps, but I mainly use my glasses as its just less hassle in the long run

Usually I get them while I'm back home, but I'm at uni at the moment and it's a 2 hour drive back to my opticians. Thought it'd be easier to get them online since I'm not too fussed about the aftercare, went for the initial checks to see it was ok and that's it. Also, I'm extremely lazy, so doing it without having to leave my computer chair is a big plus

    Re: Contact Lens Prescription

I use either Vision Express online for monthly lenses or Daftsoft for dailies, they are about 1/2 price or more than anyone else (£10 for 32 pairs of lenses). Daysoft invented daily disposable lenses so its not as if their product is no good.
