Website for removing previous tennants from adddress?

Hi, we're getting loads of mail for previous tennants who've since moved to the US without a forwarding address - how can i get Royal Mail to stop delivering their mail to us?
I know that you can regsiter old names on some website but can't for the life of me remember it.

I don't think you can, we used to get it alot and all we could do is write not at this address and wack it back in mail box

I had the same thing happen when i moved into my house. For years i was getting the previous owners mail. All you can do is write "Not known at this address. Return to sender" And keep doing it, eventually the amount of mail will dwindle down to none, but be warned, it could take a few years for it to stop totally. As an example, i still get 1 or 2 a year, and i've been living here for 11 years now.

As stated above if it's proper mail there's not much you can do.
If it's mainly spam, then registering with the mail preference service should get rid of a lot of it (http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/)
