Not a good start to my weekend!!!

As if having to work 8am till 8pm today and tomorrow was not bad enough found that my car had been broken into this morning!!! Got home this morning at 00.30 after work and had to be up at 6.30!! Got to Tesco and noticed my passenger side door was forced open at the top. I should have known something was up when i unlocked my car today- central locking did not go off. Now i thought i just missed it.

This is the second time a car of mine has been broken into. Christmas 2008 had a passenger window smashed on a vauxhall astra- but it was being scrapped two days later!!!

Anyway nothing was stolen then or today!! Then again there was nothing on view or of any value in th car today. The glove box was open but two cd albums still there!!!!!!! Damn wasters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thankfully i have fully comp insurance so the cost to me should not be too high!!!! Looks like my savings will have to take another hit

Just can't work out why they broke in??? There was no attempt to steal the car!!!!

Hard luck mate - it's easy to miss things like this until later.

Despite the obvious hassle and cost to you, the good thing is the more time they waste failing to find anything in your car (presumably looking for sat nav or equivalent) then the less time they're stealing stuff from other people.

Do you normally use a sat nav? If so they might spot the marks on the windscreen or just see you driving if they're from the area.

No never used a sat nav in this car. Its new.......well its 2nd hand- had it about 2 weeks!! The excess on my insurance is £250 and then my 2 yr no claims would go as well!! Thats if i claim and i think i will have to!!!

Friend of the family owns a body shop repair company so will wait to see what they say!!! Apparently the police are comeing to see me on monday! Doubt they will turn up as they didn't last time lol

If i was on a better wage then this would not be so bad i guess. But now that excess will eat one weeks wages!!!! God i can't wait to get back to uni!!!

No door won't budge!!! I'll have to see what the body repair shop say!!! If its over £250 then theres no way i can afford it really without eating a large chunk of my savings- which i need to fund my post grad course in september.

That does not sound gd lol Off work for a bit then??? I assume your daughter is ok with no injuries?

I woudl rather have a badly sprained ankle than having to pay £250 to £500 to fix my car!!!

Re: Not a good start to my weekend!!!

Anyone ever had the scenes of crime unit roudn when their car has been broken into??? Just had a call from one but i'm at work!!! Gwent Police have made a massive **** up here!! Told the person yesterday that i would be free monday!!! When do the police call for a statement to they call today when i'm at work!!!! They also failed to mention about the scenes of crime unit coming to look at the car!!! Had I known I would have left the door as it is instead of bending it back a bit!!!

    Grrrrrr

Just wandering though................the guy told me that because i have since used the car and it has been bent back slightly (not 100% fixed yet) that there would be no point in him coming back another day!! I would have thought they would have been able to exclude me finger prints???

oh and to another rubbish week!!

They can exclude your prints, but you have probably obscured/rubbed off the prints that they want. I suspect it is just resource saving on their part. It was already unlikely that they would find anything useful, now it is even less likely. It's poor that they didn't tell you CSI was coming round. Two people I know have been the victim of burglary and in both cases the police told them to try not to move things until CSI had attended and arranged a time and, I think, kept the appointment.

There seems to be a problem with the system in my area as the officers who turned up today said they been sent on the wrong days to other people. The door has now been bent back in a bit at the top but even if i have left i doubt they would have been able to get anything!

I just hope nothing else goes wrong for a week. I'm sure i'm owed that much lol
