I've just bought a game from a UK based online shop, but on arrival it says on the back of the box:
'For sale, rental and use only in USA, CANADA, MEXICO and LATIN AMERICA'. Are such statements binding or can the shop send me whatever they like?

I would have thought that it would be fairly binding, although I'm not sure.
Have you contacted the online shop about it? It could be that they had been sent US copies from their supplier by mistake
I don't think it's actually criminal for them to do that but there are a lot of questions raised. The publisher certainly wouldn't be too happy to find out that the shop is selling in the wrong territory and depending on the circumstances the tax man might be interested in them.
i presume its not region locked?
