    Lobby Groups in Parliament

I was just reading that the UKOOA (=UK oil association) LFI and CFI, (=Lab/Con Friends of Isreal) are the largest lobby groups in westminster.

2/3rd of conservatives are actually members of Conservative friends of Isreal, Also massive fans of Oil Companies. Other larger groups are Chemical industry, Recording industry, Pharmacy industry, Manufacturers and employers lobby groups.

The UK lobby industry was estimated in 2007 to be worth £1.9 billion and employ 14,000 people.

The LFI/CFI/UKOOA do things like befriending mp's, offering them all expenses paid holidays to attend oil conferences and guided tours of isreal and the west bank. the isreal ones are chaperoned and also paid for by the Ireali foreign ministry.

Other MP's make trips related to AIDS, refugees, peru, rainforest. its either one type or the other.

Some mp's are practically representatives/employees of pharmacy and oil companies pretending to be independantly minded mp's.

why are Isreal and oil representatives 5 times more important in parliament than the Lobby for Medical affairs, or the lobby for Educational affairs?

No one seems to have any lists of the lobbying groups, i.e. the top 25 ones.

the thing with lobbying is its designed to be covert and enable donations and meeting of industrialists and mp's that can arrange covert agreements and payments.

i'm tryong to write some of my research on there here:

there are thousands of lobby groups in the eu parliament. Just one of the largest lobbying groups, Hill & Knowlton, may employ more than all those employed by the social and environmental groups that have a presence in Brussels. They act as lobbyists for hire for whoever can afford them?trade associations and large corporations.

1.9 billion industry, gets only 20 lines in wiki because it is covert:

I wondered about this question. How did you get that number/ratio? I couldn't find anything on it, and 'important' seems a subjective measure.

I guess that your figures probably do reflect how much money is spent bribing, sorry, lobbying MPs if the government's willingness to support, or at least not complain about, Israel's excesses in the Occupied Territories.

    Re: Lobby Groups in Parliament

The lobby groups must be crazy if they think that money will influence an MP. It's already quite clear that they'll take the money regardless of the expectation attached to it!

    Re: Lobby Groups in Parliament

Sorry it's actually "over two thirds" of Conservative MPs were members of Conservative Friends of Israel in 2006.[2] According to their website...

Referenced from the wiki page on the conservative friends of isreal. The notion is that Isreali lives are important (holocaust) and palestinian lives are worthless (gaza) and so conservatives will remain all mute and side with the isrealis as their are not "Friends of Palestine" lobby groups.

I went through about 30 mp's expenses, about 10 of them had free holidays in isreal from CFI/LFI and about 6 had free holidays to sponsored oil conferences, and 2 of them chemicals and pharmacy conference trips, and one of the was receiving rent from his second home. I'm struggling to find info on it.

    Re: Lobby Groups in Parliament

There looking after business interests of the UK. No matter what the negetive result.
Israel buy many of their weapons from the UK so when decide to attack gaza or require more stockpiles companys like BAE systems are quids in.
Obviously MPs have no morale considerations as to just what it means to represent these groups. But are more concerned about getting foreign investors/governments to spend money here.
