It's pretty simple for me.. I like a fair few of the tunes but basically don't like Liam.. I think no-one rates him more highly than himself and he's actually not particularly talented.

Noel on the other hand, well, you can't argue that the guy can't write some awesomely good tunes and is also prepared to experiment with them too:

Try this Electric Proms version of Masterplan... it really is very good:

    yup

I own every Oasis single/Album, have quite a few rarities, vinyl, imports etc and I own all the stone Roses Singles / Albums on top of that I own all the Beatles albums and a couple of singles.

To me Oasis sound more like the Stone Roses than the Beatles.

Re: If you just don't "get" Oasis, come in and share my feelings.

I liked What's the Story, and then thought every album after that was poor with the odd song that made an exception... really seemed like they had gone downhill. I've got a fair old few of them, although probably not all (Definitely Maybe, Be Here Now, Heathen Chemistry, DBTT), and just can't get into any of them.

But I recently gave their new album a go, and thought it was the best stuff they'd released since then, although not many people seem to agree - I thought they were a one-album-wonder until then, but now I've got a lot of respect back for them.

Like a comfy pair of slippers they are consistent and ever present no matter what music i'm listening too i'll always go back to the fab Once Upon a Time and Sparkles in the Rain albums

30 years on and they are still going strong

Yeah I know, liking Simple Minds is probably sadder than liking Oasis, but hey, I don't care

Another Simple Minds fan here /sheepish.

In fact I was only listening to my old copy of Live in the City of Light just the other day. Big Sleep ftw (which always takes me in my mind straight back to school, standing in the playground on a sunny day looking up at one of the buildings watching fluffy, white clouds drift against a blue sky... I suppose you had to be there, really.. Ah, dizzy nostalgia..)

I always prefered Shed 7 tbh. I don't mind Oasis (early at least as their later stuff is horse dung) but they were never really innovative. They just came along with the right sound at the right time.

    I don't know, I don't care, all I know is she'll take me there...

I have that album playing in the Car right now good stuff!

Once Upon a Time is my all time fave though, reminds me of the North Welsh hills around Llangollen we used to spend so many hours wasting away our teenage years

I find some of their songs OK, and of those, it's generally the ones that Noel sings that I prefer. Liam is just one step up from Bez.

    (possibly a tad harsh )

I listened to the first 2 albums when I was young, but never any more than that.

    And that's... 4/10 for me.

    But the rest... bloody hell

And I SO WANT TO LIKE IT... but I can't. It makes no sense to me... it's drivvel.

    Am I alone?
No, not a fan of Oasis. Too much hype for me.

They had odd decent track but I thought the Verve were better.

I love Oasis! Think they have some amazing tracks (Cigarettes and Alcohol, Champagne Supernova, Cast no Shadow, Hindu Times, etc) and quite a lot of no so amazing tracks. I agree that a lot are quite samey, but there are some that I could just listen to over and over again.

    And as for the laryngitis

Great music - but what a bunch of idiots - talk about forgetting who made them and put them where they are.

I used to like them during the Britpop era, but I haven't been interested in them or listened to them for years. I guess when you get older, your taste in music also changes.

I'm not the biggest fan of Oasis. They do have a few cracking tunes, but generally not a big fan of Liam's caricature of a Manc accent. It's even worse when people try to copy it - heard some Essex boys singing along to Oasis' version of I Am The Walrus once, trying to copy the drawl on "coo coo ca chooooough", was funny as hell!

I was at their Weston Park gig at V Festival last week - looks like it might be their last ever!
