Cities and Countries for download?

Not sure if this is the right place, but some of you may know so it's worth a shot!

I'm looking for something which will be massive I know - basically I want a list of all cities in the world and the country in which they reside (state if applicable).

New York NY US
Rome Italy

I found this link: http://geolite.maxmind.com/download/worldcities/ not sure if I can do any beter than that or not - I basically want to put it into a SQL table and then match our current addresses against it.

Thanks mate, that's pretty good - nice the way it all has IDs too (even though the existing IDs we have would be different), I looked at the link I posted and I think it has more data, probably too much - more than will fit on a single Excel 2007 (yes, 2007) sheet! (i.e. just over 1million rows!)
